      Sheila was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 21, 1950. She graduated Cum Laude from University of Evansville in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts.  Sheila received her Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from Indiana University in 1979. She was a member of the
Phi Kappa Phi honor society at the University of Evansville and Phi Delta Phi honor society in law school.

      Sheila joined Berger & Berger in 1979 and was made a partner in 1983, making her the first woman to be made a partner in an existing law firm in Evansville.  Since 1999, Sheila has served on the Indiana State Board of Law Examiners.  Sheila has been a member of the Brooks Inns of Court since 1988 and currently serves as its President. From 1987 to 1989, she served as a director of the Evansville Bar Association.  In 1997, Sheila became the second woman to serve as President of the Evansville Bar Association.  Sheila was awarded the Doran Perdue Service Award from the Evansville Bar Association in 1991 and again in 2005.  Sheila has been a member of the EBA Continuing Legal Education and Probate Committees since 1993.  She is a member of and chaired the Indiana State Bar Association Women in the Law Committee from 1997 until 1999, has served as a delegate to the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) House of Delegates since 1996 and was a member of the ISBA's Board of Governors from 2002 until 2004.

      Sheila was an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Evansville Paralegal Program from 1989 to 1996.  She is very active in the Evansville community and is past president of the Vanderburgh County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Mental Health Foundation and Legal Aid Society.

      Sheila has been a certified mediator in Family Law since 1993. Sheila's areas of practice are Probate Law, Family Law and Business Law.  Sheila is also a deputy prosecutor for Vanderburgh County.

      Sheila has been admitted to the Indiana Supreme Court and the United States District Court, Southern District of Indiana.
